Welcome to the GOODOO DREAMING Website!

WELCOME

GOODOO DREAMING is a place on the web that is dedicated to Australia's largest freshwater fish, the Murray Cod. It will become obvious to browsers that this site is dedicated to the pursuits of recreational fishing in Australia and promotes a balance of conservation, sustainable fisheries and the enjoyment of angling in Australian waters. You will find that GOODOO DREAMING also takes great pride in freely promoting any organization that believes in our charter, as they deserve all the exposure that can be offered and will hopefully be the savior's of our favorite pastime but more importantly the savior's of an "Australian Legend", our beloved Murray Cod. Please visit these organisations and if possible lend them support in any way possible. This website has been developed simply as a springboard from which you can link up to a great deal of information on the subject of freshwater fishing in South Eastern Australia or at least that is the ultimate goal. The site was brought about by my own experiences and frustration due to being unable to locate information I was wanting. Sure there are websites out there that are very informative but not without the usual commercial biases that come with many commercial sites these days. Being a consumable society that we are these days does has it's drawbacks and this is unfortunately one of them. The basis of what I'm trying to say here is that at GOODOO DREAMING there is no financial tie to any link on this website and you can be rest assured that it has been put here due to the fact of it's relevance, usefulness and recommendation from my self and other trusted fisho's. As time goes on this website will swell to huge proportions as more and more helpful links and articles will be gathered by myself, friends and browser's like yourself. Please, if there is a link you have found interesting and relevant or there is something you would like to see here give us bell via email or snail mail and we will only be too happy to do our best.

But remember, this website is solely for the use of the discerned Recreational Fisherman who is in it for the fun and love of the sport.

RECREATIONAL FISHING

Recreational fishing in Australia is one of the most popular pastimes of the Australian public and must be maintained in an ethical and sustainable manner. This can only be achieved by we individuals using common sense and an understanding that all fish and their habitats are not infinite entity's and require constant monitoring and changes in the way we use these resources. So please, at a minimum stick to all fishing regulations that are implemented in what ever state you are fishing in, treat your catch humanely and take all your rubbish home with you. I know many anglers who actually make it a habit of picking up small amounts of other rubbish from other disrespectful people and dispose of it correctly. Imagine if we all did this it would make a huge difference and clean-up much of our waterways.

Many recreational fisherman enjoy taking their catch home and love nothing better than feeling a sense pride providing a family meal and be able to show their family and friends a trophy catch. We like to tell stories of how long it took to bring it in and how big it was and also how nice it was to eat. All this is OK but unfortunately many of us do not take time out to think of just how many fish can we keep taking from our waters before we finally realize that we are depleting some our finest fish stocks. None more so than the current plight that the Murray Cod populations are in throughout the Murray-Darling basin. GOODOO DREAMING does not take the view that we should not be taking our catch home but is merely trying to inform all Recreational Fisherperson's that we need to think more carefully on what impacts we are having on our present fish stocks. Certain species in the near future will become "totally protected" if we do not start trying to conserve their populations. If all Recreational Fisherperson's practiced catch & release method on at least some of their catches then it would make an immense difference and would ensure a totally sustainable fishery in all of our waters for generations to come.

CATCH & RELEASE, IT WILL GROW ON YOU!

Cheers, and may your fishing be just plain fun!
